Program Description

Learn about the Florida Highwaymen and the history of the first African American arts movement and how it affects our culture today. Make your own version of Mary Anne Carrol’s beautiful painting, and discover the work of the only female Highwayman. All materials supplied, acrylic on canvas, and you will be guided step-by-step by local artist, Shawn Dell Joyce, through the painting process. Take home a finished painting inspired by the Florida Highwaymen.

 This program is designed and intended for patrons ages 18 and above. Programs requiring registration may limit participation to those patrons who meet the age requirement. 

As a courtesy to those on the waiting list, cancellations should be submitted at least 24 hours in advance of the program. Please remember that three (3) cancellations/no shows within a calendar year will result in forfeiture of registration privileges.

Please arrive on time. Late arrivals may be restricted from participating and registered spots may be given to someone on the waiting list. Repeated late arrivals and a repeated failure to notify staff of cancellation in advance may result in a restriction from participating in future programs.
