Program Description

Program Description

Alexa Volland from the Poynter Institute's MediaWise program will give an informative and interactive presentation about Media Literacy. Children will learn how the internet works, tell the difference between news and opinion, identify real and false images and videos, and create their own mock newscast.

Media literacy encompasses the practices that allow people to access, critically evaluate, and create or manipulate media. Media literacy is not restricted to one medium. Media literacy education is intended to promote awareness of media influence and create an active stance towards both consuming and creating media. - WikiPedia
